There are many methods to select stepping motor and driver, but the principle of selecting stepping motor first and then driver should be followed to select stepping motor. Firstly, the load characteristics should be clarified, and then the static torque and torque frequency curve of different types of stepping motor can be compared to find the most matching stepping motor with load characteristics.

(1) How to determine the type of stepper motor? What are the main parameters to pay attention to? How to understand the static torque, number of leads and other parameters of hybrid stepper motor?

Generally, the motor is selected according to your load, mainly referring to the torque of the stepping motor. In detail, it also involves the speed and rated current of the motor, transmission mechanism, starting speed and normal running speed, as well as the accuracy of the motor.

(2) Static torque or holding torque:

It refers to the torque of the stator locking the rotor when the stepping motor is powered on but does not rotate. It is one of the most important parameters of stepping motor. For example, when people say 2n. M stepper motor, in the absence of special instructions, it refers to the stepper motor with a holding torque of 2n. M. Usually according to the required torque (i.e. the torque of the object to be driven), which type of motor is selected. Generally speaking, if the torque is less than 0.8N. M, choose 20, 28, 35, 42 (motor body diameter or squareness, unit: mm); if the torque is about 1n. M-3n. M, choose 57, 60 motor. When the torque is several N.M. or more, the stepping motor of 86, 110, 130 and other specifications should be selected

(3) Number of leads:

The number of leads is more intuitive, that is, the number of motor wiring pins. Two phase bipolar motors have four leads. 2-phase unipolar motors are 5-wire or 6-wire.
